Our 7 year old son, TJ, is going to start contributing stories from our various trips. Here is his first article!
I might have grammar problems because I’m starting punctuation so “YA” starting the story. This is my first essay.
First we took a trip to Amarillo to see my grandma on the way to the Grand Canyon. We did smell a couple of skunks on the way there. We did see a big farm with a butt load of cows. We did almost catch Rapidash at the Flying C Ranch on Pokémon Go and a Mankey we did catch. Then we went to stay the night in Albuquerque. The next day we just left and drove to Mather Campground in the Grand Canyon.
We got there at 5:45 PM. We set up our tent and stuff and unpacked the firewood, paper napkins, sleeping bags, cups, forks, and spoons. Then we ate steaks off the campfire for dinner. Then we ate desert, which was ice cream cones, and it had marshmallows and chocolate chips melted in it. Then we told scary campfire stories, and then it was bedtime. Next day my dad and I played football for about an hour then we went to take showers. After that we went shopping and I got a walking stick, new shoes, and a shirt. While we were shopping, our baked potatoes were being cooked on the campfire for lunch. When we came back ravens were eating them, I don’t know how they got them because the fire was still there but life is life. We ate kabobs for dinner and then s’mores for dessert. We then told scary campfire stories before bedtime.
Next day we went hiking near the rim and then shopping again. We then went back and ate lunch, hanged out at our tent, and then we went and ate at a fancy restaurant. After dinner we went back to the tent and told scary stories again and then it was bedtime. Next day we ate lunch and after that we played football for a long time. We then played baseball and later we took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. The headphones were jammed up and it was loud when you took them off but it was beautiful. I saw people walking a trail in the Grand Canyon from the sky.
The next morning, I woke up and had hot tea. I helped out with packing. We all went to take showers and then we left to go to my grandma’s cabin in Colorado. So first we got all are stuff put up after that it has been so long sense someone has been there it was a mess. The grass was so tall the sticks were everywhere and the grass was up to my chest. The mower battery was from 2009 so we had to get a new one. But first we trimmed the trees, carried the tree branches with a wheel barrel, and then my dad started to mow. I picked up sticks in the yard that was in his way then my mom weed eated then we were done.
So when we got there we went to the Mesa Verde park dwellings it said it was one mile but it felt like it was three miles. There were changes in the path that went up and down and up and down. But when we got there it would eco. It was cool we saw this little hut and we saw big holes and I guess it was a church. But then a ranger said five more MINUTES!!!!!! Then I rushed everywhere because I wanted to see everything possible. I went to a ladder and they let me climb it. I was supposed to find stars, which were x’s on the walls.
But then OUT, OUT, CLOSED PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we rushed then we had to walk up hills a lot. We got in our truck and went to our cabin and hung out and at night. We all played cards and we played Spoons, Books, Rummy, War, and Solitaire. Then bed time. The next day we went fishing and we caught a rainbow trout. I saw a golden retriever and I asked if I could pet it and they said yes. It turned out to be a play date and there were two. I was playing with one but the other one had our playing stick and it was charging at me from behind and it whacked my butt:
I found a can on the shore and I got it with my fishing pole. I found the perfect stick and some fishing line too. I decided to make something with it and it turned out like this:
I saw some chipmunks and then we left. By then it was nighttime and we went back to the cabin. We watched Ghostbusters 2. After that it was bedtime. I was on the couch with two blankets and a sleeping bag. The next morning I watched TV for about two hours. Then it was lunchtime, then shower time. After that I watched the Chipmunks the Sequel and then I played catch with my dad. Then it started to rain, so I started play slither.io on my IPad. My dad asked, “What are you playing?” I showed him I let him try and he got addicted to it. So we download it on his IPad then when the rain stop and I went to throw rocks in the water. Then I watched TV again and then it was dinnertime. After that we played cards. Then it was bedtime.
The next day I went Amarillo. It was an 8-hour drive. My grandma was gone, so we waited. And then so we saw Turner. He does work for my grandma because she rents houses. And we were expecting my cousin. When they got there, he had a huge Frisbee he wanted to play with. I had a trick that he could not do. I would put it behind my back with one hand and I threw it. It would land straight and roll then curve and land on the sidewalk. Then we played catch and I did my trick and he got mad. So then we played hide and go seek and I counted. There was a wall and behind it were lots of vines. He was hiding there and he lost his flip-flop, so I had to get it. I climbed over and got it. Then we did quizzes and funny videos online. Then it was bedtime. The next day we played catch with the Frisbee and watched more funny videos and played tag. Then it was time to go to Hobby Lobby because that’s where we met his other grandma. Then we left to go to my grandma’s house to get our stuff and to go back home.
